The lure of the open road. The siren call of far-away lands. The seductive cry of the friendly skies. The chance to see new places, meet new people, experience different cultures. Or to just get the hell outa Dodge for awhile. With these words, I began the "I Remember Travel" project on 1/1/21. The world at that time was in the grip of a paralyzing global pandemic, a surreal and dormant non-reality, and the idea behind IRT was to create a virtual, web-based platform to share stories, photos and music inspired by my pre-COVID travels. Some that had been previously published, some going out for the first time. Because, at the time it was really was an unknown if we would ever go back to normal. Which, of course, we did. Or whatever qualifies as "normal" these days, anyway. I still haven't been back on a plane since 2020. Maybe I will again. But in the meantime, I have these stories, these pictures, these songs. These journeys in sight and sound. –Starling ABOUT THE AUTHOR
