Guitar Moods
Release date: 2006
A collection of cinematic six-string ensemble pieces inspired by Mike Starling’s travels in Ireland, New Zealand and America’s own Great River Road.
The title "Guitar Moods" was inspired by the cover art: the pastel painting "Musician" by Milwaukee artist Shelly Rosenquist.
"Quite a new world for instrumental guitar subtlety,” wrote Martin Jack Rosenblum in a review in the Shepherd Express. “Standout moments include the spare rasp of 'Above The Clouds,' the sonic narrative 'Rememory,' the dance through dust of 'Amarilla' and, especially, the dirge that refuses sorrow of 'Sophie & Boscho'"
"Sophie & Boscho" was later selected as the soundtrack for a film showcasing photography from the book Live Without Dead Time: The Streets of Amsterdam.
